Just in JL “Cascade” in Dark Brown Horween Vermont. Just out of the box. Gonna have to turn the AC down tonight and give it some time. Feels a little big, but I’m also getting bigger. All in all the JL crew really executed beautifully. The leather is very soft and pliable right out of the box, very easy wearing.

Only point of concern on first look- it appears the center panel on the chest is thinner, it has a bit of a stretched/wrinkled look even at rest. It won’t be exposed most of the time but dunno. Interested in honest feedback. Can do a dedicated thread if y’all like but will take a few days.

Your jacket looks pretty awesome right out of the box! Reading about it in the Johnson's thread was the reason I took the dive with JL myself too.
Every single one of my leather jackets has a few spots that could use thicker leather. I find that makers tend to use the thinner and grainier hides on the side gussets, under arms and inside lapel. I guess this is just how the game is played.

Thanks man! I know I aired concerns here but my overall response is “woah that’s cool!”

I did email Damon about the fit and the funny front panel just because I wouldn’t want to say something negative without also bringing it to him. Honestly the bigger-than-expected fit is more of a concern to me. I’m curious about his take on fixing it now vs giving it some wear first.

As long as you don't hear an answer like "wear it about 1 year, the sleeve will shorten by 2 inches", we all happy.

It's 3 degrees Celsius at my place this morning. Yesterday was the coldest day in Sydney in 25 years. On my way to work wearing my warmest jacket, a vintage 1950s Woolmaster Co heavy gabardine jacket with quilted lining. Got a black wool Pendleton underneath, my trusty scarf and Hat People newsboy cap. Friday is 'mufti day', when staff pay a dollar each week to wear casual clothing rather than business attire.

I think that is the cause of chilly mornings here, even now I can feel the heat radiation of the sun, but the wind is cold, making very weird hot and cold feeling

Pretty much that is the typical weather in the LA area. Before moving here I always wondered why sometimes you see people in shorts and a tshirt and others in long pants and a jacket. It really depends on if you'll be in the sun and which microclimate you'll be in dictates your dress.

Coming from the midwest (basically middle America for the non-Americans) it isn't like that at all. If it is warm it is so hot and humid that being in the shade isn't terribly different than being in direct sunlight. So a humid 75 still means everyone is in shorts and a tshirt since the humidity makes the air damp and hot.
