Vans baby. I worked in one of their retail stores for years. Sadly at that age I also made some terrible life choices. Eh, it was a good first job.

Nick I love Vans but I have to say that is total brand commitment right there. I sure hope they gave you some free pairs after that one. I wish they were still made in the USA. They are not the same quality they used to be since they stopped making them in the USA back in the late 90's. Mine seem to fall apart instantly now but I still love wearing them.

It was a cool first job. I became friendly with a relative of the founding family. Dutch heritage, hence the 'waffle sole'. Nice folks who really lived out the American dream. Iirc they were bought out sometime during the 90s. In the mid 60s, they were really more of a MTO outfit. Often schoolkids would bring in their uniform fabric and have shoes made from the material ready to pick up the following day(s). Also they were one of the few shoe companies doing the heat-infused vulcanized sole at the time (Converse I think was the other?) Of course now they're a massive entity but their early days were kind of like us in our Aero tartan search!

The tattoo was more symbolic of finding some semblance of personal responsibility during my tenure. I really was a wreck prior. Probably still was when I had the thing done lol. I never wear shorts so it's not the end of the world...

Aero CHP. Will be outside this PM, probably in the rain, so I figured the CXL would work. Hard to capture the midnight blue unless the picture is taken outside in the sun. Aero & TB knocked this jacket out of the park for me.

Took the IH out on a shake down ride today. I have a few multi day rides planned over the summer and anything that’s a little annoying on an hour long ride is pull your hair out after 8 hours. It did great. Side gussets are awesome. First time on the bike in this jacket and there was zero push up or ballooning in the chest with them open. I was curious how the non snap down collar would behave at speed. I can attest it’s fine to 90.

Side gussets are functional and I personally think look great.

Daughters friend had a social distance bday party tonight. Small group. They obeyed the rules. Was an outdoor, backyard party and it’s shockingly, stupid chilly in Chicago right now. Feels like late fall. Aero did the trick again. This jacket reminds me of how Brooks CR’a fit. I’ve ordered an antique charm to use as a zipper pull for the chest pocket.

Score, which has quickly become my favorite jacket. Lightweight, dense horsehide. Dena added an internal pocket to make it a more practical spring/fall jacket.

Yessir. Heavy jacket even without the armor installed.

It took me a long time to get my Vanson competition weight broken in. Once broken in it was soft and comfortable to wear. That one looks good on you, and you will enjoy wearing it once it softens up.
