What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

I’m loving the goat on the new-to-me Langlitz. Worked exceptionally well on my bike, total freedom of movement. Unlike most of my other jackets, it feels like it isn’t even on me.

Very happy with it. The goat is insanely soft, the only true sign that this jacket has been worn. The seller’s measurements were a bit off, but I sensed it from the pictures. A skill I am improving, thanks to TFL. If the Thurlow fits like this, I’ll be stoked. The inbound LW will likely fit like this. My Langlitz hunger is satiated. Moving on.
Now i am getting hunger for another Langlitz attempt! I wish they would sell off their stock and or inventory online. I am sure they got something in house that fits me. Maybe I can talk to them about it.

Today is not that hot and I can finally wear my Fox Creek Leather Classic Motorcycle Jacket.

I got the chance to handle a Fox Creek at a local MC rally. Real nice naked cowhide. Heavy. Well-made. While I’m not a fan of the vents aesthetically, I bet they are a blessing when riding in the heat. By all accounts, they run a great and biker-friendly operation too.

Nice snag J!!! Jacket looks awesome and fits great. Glad it works on the bike, that's the important thing. Your collection just keeps getting better and better! Keep on rockin'

Thanks my man. I got lucky with this one. Said eff it and sent an offer. Seller is cool AF. Told him that if he is ever in South Florida, I owe him a few beers.

The Bates* got some more love early this morning before the sun started to heat things up. Switched over to this rockabilly Golden Bear instead:

EDIT 20200610: Cleaning up my old posts where I incorrectly identified a jacket as a Bates. Thanks to the keen eyes of members more knowledgeable than I it has been determined to be a Vanson.

Wow! I love this. You look like trouble:D

Funnily enough, the worker supervising the self-checkout machines at the store this morning accused me of not paying for a box of diapers even though it clearly was shown on the receipt. Last week (wearing the Bates*) she accused me of the same thing for a box of baby wipes. Suffice to say, I had a conversation with a store manager today about being profiled as a thief. Must be the leather jacket + hat + mask combination.

In retrospect, I should I have kept a 70s appreciation 'stache after shaving the beard off yesterday. The wife's not a fan and has made that position known more than once. Suffice to say, she married me anyway even after this date night bowling several years ago:

It’s 65 degrees. Curfew lifted from Chicago at 12:30PM today. My pub with all manner of IPA and Shepard’s pie is available for outdoor dining. It’s nowhere near necessary but I’m at least going to head out in my Aero HB. If I shed it in 1/2 hr I don’t care. Feeling better than I have in a long while tonight.

6,5 yrs old cow hide, time flies
Going to check my new jacket, so probably will come back wearing a new one, leave this one for lining repair on the back collar... hopefully.
... I didn't bring my new jacket home, I tried on, and pin point spot for every twist lock, got marked with pencil, but they were busy doing stuff with rolls of batik... and mine still have to wait, I thought I can wait for 5 twist locks and 2 pairs of snaps to be done... but nope. not today:(

Here is a cool juxtaposition: I found an old photo from 1996 when I visited the U.K. and was wearing my first Lost Worlds jacket, an A-2. I’m in the British War Museum where they had the tail section of Rudolf Hess’ Me110 on display (the plane he flew from Germany to Scotland in 1941 when he surrendered or defected or whatever).
The second photo is my new 2020 LW Rigger jacket (a light rain is falling).
Back in 1996, before TFL or the LW website (even before Google!), I learned about Lost Worlds from a print ad in the back of some aviation magazine. I ordered my first LW A-2 and was hooked! Thus began this “hobby” of buying, selling and buying more bespoke leather jackets.
Seven LW jackets (plus many others from a multitude of makers), 24 years and countless dollars later, I may have finally found my “Grail” jacket, the Rigger!
