What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Piece of art. Have you ever consider install sleeves? Maybe cxl

Constantine and his crew were awesome, no doubt. I’m working on something else with him now. May be some time before it comes to fruition. I’m a big believer in what he and Vanson can do.

I actually haven’t. I need a vest or two living where I am. If I don’t hit the road at dawn or at night, my jackets become hard to wear. I sometimes do it bc, well, I have them and I love them. But not optimal. That’s where my perforated Force comes in, but even then. Stupid humid.

As a general rule I would agree with you 100%. In the case of Thurston Brothers though I have to disagree because I have received great service from them over the years. If it were not for their fit jacket process I never would’ve had the confidence to throw down $1000.00 dollars on a jacket I’d never seen nor tried on in person.
I can see how what works for me might not be true for you though because of the customs and shipping duties that are assessed shipping jackets back-and-forth from Canada to the US.

This may be another reason that I like Thurston Brothers. At 6’1” their stock jacket measurements are usually perfect for me in terms of sleeve and body length. On the Aero sales page I almost always find the jackets a bit too short.

The fella I was responding to mentioned he thought all of TB's stock jackets were too long. I was not knocking their fit program which I think is a good service to offer. A company like Langlitz could benefit with such a service instead of doing remake upon remake.

You are also correct in thinking that program is not very good for Canada due to the fees involved. We are very heavily taxed up here and anything coming in regardless of how it is declared (exchange, warranty repair, sale or gift) if there is a monetary value assigned we will pay tax on that value.

Yes, yes yes!
I would much rather have had jackets that fit the first time around from them rather than go through the ordeal of arguing about a remake and then receiving a ban on future custom orders.
maybe they will do with their new trucker and find it works better and more interest. They posted on IG i said do a stock run and they said they might and one could adjust sleeve and body

Colin - I totally get it for sticking just with the manufacturer as you are in Cananda and take additional taxes. Having just bought something off ebay and having to actually pay tax on it (all within the US) it was a bit of a hit.

That said, I am down to 4 jackets, three of which came through Thurston. purchased new. I have found they fit my 6'1" frame a lot better and while i have tried a few jackets direct from Aero, typically they wind up being a bit off fit-wise (if bought off the rack). As others have stated, if I were 5' 10" I could fit into vintage threads much more easily, as well as most of the jackets Aero sells direct.

I've been working with him this week on a trucker order and have thoroughly enjoyed his customer service. First class to work with so far. If I may ask, what is it you're plotting Jmax?

He’s definitely first class. All around good dude.

TBH, no idea. Spitballing. I had gone to him with an idea for a padded J-82ish jacket in gray CW, got to talking and put that idea on hold. I’ve gone down this road with him before. Share pictures and thoughts until we arrive at the destination.

Thats a coooool jacket! 2 thumbs way up
Thanks @John D Maccarter & @Psant25. I have only had CRs and CR based patterns till this one came along. Loved the somewhat different styling, and especially the shade of brown, which in my opinion is the best CXL brown variation, Aero's is more on the side of chocolaty brown in my experience

Sleeves are a bit loose generally since there is no zip or button closure. I hope it creases and shortens up a bit :)

So yeah, let's break the combo of WJAYWT's super cool outfits, jeans and jackets with Anton Vanek vintage police motorcycle suit. Still one of the best fitting jackets I had. Not really what I'm wearing today. Kept the jacket but switched to jeans because for some reason, unlike double denim, double leather's guaranteed to make even going to the store awkward.

Buy direct instead and don't deal with Thurston. Personally, I think dealing directly with the maker yields far better results than using a middleman.

Oh, I have bought direct from Aero and through Thurston. I'm not knocking Thurston at all, they are great. I just also wish they would every now and then order jackets for average height people as well to have in stock. I don't want to always have to special order something as sometimes it takes visually seeing a jacket to queue the desire to own one.
