Yes, steerhide. I agree, the grain really is amazing on this one. Color have faded incredibly fast as well. I’ve only worn it for about 3 weeks.

Just a heads-up: I just noticed that the Himel Transcontinental Railroad coat is still selling on Orvis. They have XL and **l, and they're now being offered at $639.00. Quite a deal for some of you big boys.

I didn't really need another leather jacket but I was missing a black one to go with my black shoes... I found a vintage german one (Zipp pullers, green checkered lining, inside pocket, button cuffs...) last Thursday in London and wore it the same weekend:

Leather is buttery soft and light (Which is what I like and I prefer)

Nah, I ordered it with an Irvin mutton collar. Got the idea from a bootlegger thread here, someone with a bootlegger in russet Vicenza who added a fur collar to it, don’t remember his user name.

Rode again today. Very windy so I wore the Schott '30s Retro HH jacket for a twenty mile ride and back.

My Filson Waxed Work Jacket. It originally had a stink so I cleaned all the oil out. Then I worked in some Fjallraven Greenland Wax which I now prefer, although, I have not rain tested it yet. It now has a pleasant beeswax scent.

Yes this is the DD I decided to replace with my incoming ELMC J-100 because at the time I thought the fit wasn’t “perfect”.....before you ask, yes I was a few shots into a bottle of vodka when I clicked the buy button...lesson learned [emoji23]

But you are right, it’s slightly shorter so maybe they can both stay?
