A couple of unusual things, today. First, me wearing a reproduction nylon flight jacket. Second, the jacket. It’s a 1990s Brents Sportswear, 1958 MA-1.

A fairly accurate reproduction for its price, this jacket sports wool insulation, wool knits, a thick nylon shell, a black and gold specification tag, oxygen mask tab, microphone cord tabs and both interior and exterior Air Force roundels. The main zipper is a 1990s Ideal, but at least Brent’s painted it black and tried to make it resemble a 1950s paper clip Conmar. Both the main zipper and shoulder pocket zipper have proper leather pulls. The overall weight and “feel” of the Brents jacket is comparable to that of my 1960 B-series, John Ownbey MA-1.

This jacket, like the 1990s replica Alphas, is living testimony that good, reasonably accurate, reproduction nylon can be produced and sold at affordable prices. Unfortunately, also like Replica Alphas, Brents MA-1s are no longer available. So the jacket may be equally convincing testimony that there isn’t a lucrative market for reasonably accurate, reproduction nylon flight jackets.

I'm with A-1 on this. Once you start wearing the roomier, higher-waisted pants your old tighter pants seem completely ridiculous. I have a couple of pairs of 'straight' jeans that I still wear, but mostly it's the baggies. I didn't even notice he was wearing them.

I think though you have to be careful with the leg length in the sense that is better to have them on the short side and allow no break at all. Otherwise I find they ruin the look of every shoe/boot you wear. Baggy and slightly too long and you definitely risk to look like a grandpa in my opinion.

To each his own but I think that a mid rise with a moderately tapered leg is the way to go for most people.

Yeah, that's the reason I'm not a big fan... You have to cuff them high up and even then they just hang straight down shapelessly and look like a tube, especially from the side - or your footwear won't matter anymore. Mid or even high rise straight cut in a correct size should be just as comfortable. Otherwise, you guys might as well jump into sweatpants. :3
