What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

^ That makes me LOL. We have a granddaughter in a private Catholic school (pub schools here **** and they're pretty reasonable). When I go there in my "work wear", I def don't fit into the suit/sportcoat crowd, and that's OK. I think the women like it though, so maybe that's why the guys look funny

There are quite a few working (construction, contracting etc...) fathers at the school but they're in stone washed jeans and steel toes with the leather worn off the steel. Those that wear leather jackets tend to wear 90's baggy multi-piece affairs. It's not a really fashionable place which is perfectly fine but does make my clothing choices stand out a bit.

Looking good. I think the jacket looks just fine so I wouldn't remove the Scrappers. In fact, it kind of balances the front with that on one side and the zip pocket and label on the other. I like your pants, are they for riding horses or something, with those buttons? I think they would go well with ankle boots.

My kids go to a pretty conservative school. I get some curious stares but no comments. At work no one mentions them. Out in public I very rarely get a comment from someone (maybe 2-3 times/year). The other 2 tone Diamond Dave I have has received the most compliments (lots of "nice jacket!"). Black guys make up maybe 80% of all compliments followed by Asian guys and I think I've had maybe 2 compliments in my life from white guys. One guy flagged me down in a parking lot and really wanted to know where to get a Grizzly like the one I got from Steve S.

The color of it just reeks of something other worldly. Lately the cherry CXL is starting to get me thinking. A bootlegger, top of sleeve zips, shoulder gussets and single v yoke...brass zips and a throat latch. That could be something to write home about...
I'd want a sample to be sure but the above mentioned is swirling around in my head.

I agree that the Cordovan jackets get much love. I have received more compliments on my Cordovan Bootlegger than all of my other jackets put together. I also have a burgundy pair of Wesco engineer boots that get a lot of positive feedback.

Thanks HanauMan. I'm fine with the Scrappers for now, not least because I almost became one a few years back. I bought the pants at an Army Surplus store as Swiss Army. I got them at the end of the season last year and haven't really worn them before. They are somewhat too big and I'm trying to figure out what I might do about that. Very heavy wool melton. Fishtail buckle belt back. May be dated 1944. Not sure if the buttons are for blousing or what.

Ill fitting or not I'm sure they will get a lot of wear this winter because not that many affordable pairs of pants this warm show up in a given year.

As a general rule too big is probably better, but I'm having trouble figuring out how I take these in with that fishtail back and belt thrown into the mix. And as it happens I'm going on a mushroom foray tomorrow. It will be too warm for these pants, unfortunately. Also unfortunately we have some nasty little burr things around here that like to permanently bury themselves into anything woolen. So I'll be wearing my double faced waxed cotton brush pants.

Today it's my Amana Woolens jacket that gets the morning call.

I'm actually jealous you have a job where you can wear your leather jackets. That way, they actually do get a decent amount of wear time.. I'm currently evaluating what to do with my law degree and I find myself putting aside many options because I don't see myself wearing a leather jacket in that work environment.
