My absence began with an embarrassing tumble onto the deck as I was about finished loading my vehicle for the 3-1/2 hour ride home. Fortunately, all The boxes and especially the Cavanagh Milan (rear, center of photo) served to break my fall. The subtle dents left on that hat are now badges of honor, adding to its provenance.

In recovery I also donned the Borsa thin ribbon.

Every day’s a plus, folks!! In another 8 weeks I should be cleared to drive. WooHA!!!

Like the song says, Enjoy yourselves, it’s later than you think!!

At least all these hats are good for something other than fashion. Sorry to hear about your fall and hope for a speed recovery.

Following a week of hospital "incarceration," (a decision made to keep me close to the surgeons in the event of sudden loss of all sensation below the neck) I enjoyed spinal surgery in the form of a cervical laminectomy." Glad I could wait, as I got the "A" team from neurosurgery.
Imagine leaving home, thinking you'll be back in a few hours, and ending up being away for 2 weeks!!
ALWAYS wear clean underwear!!!

Damn, Charlie! That's a little more drama than one wants in a short journey! Glad the laminectomy was successful, and if it's anything like a lumbar one, you'll be as good as new in no time. My condolences for the health scare, and the massive inconvenience. KUDOS for maintaining your sense of humor, and sense of style, throughout it all.

Ouch indeed! Heal quick! Full contact hat collecting can indeed be hazardous lol!

Love the clean underwear quip Charles. Wishing you well of course and you are right, everyday is a plus. My hip replacement gave me a new lease of life, I do wish your recovery much the same.

Rest easy Charlie. Laminectomies are serious & never fun. And I guarantee when you are all healed up you will be able to forecast a change coming in the weather.

cervical laminectomy
Charlie, for a couple of decades now, I've been walking around with C5, 6 and 7 operating as one; along with the titanium cage and cadaver bone that holds it all together. Fortunately, I didn't have to wear a collar and within 30 days the neurosurgeon released me back to full duty. HJ is spot on about the weather changes and you may start enjoying turtlenecks to keep the cool breezes at bay. Take care.
