What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Would you mind posting a picture or two of your felt Inwood sometime? Interestingly, I like my hemp Inwoods so much I've been wondering if a felt version should be on my bucket list.

Although I wear it quite often, it looks like the last time I posted a pick of the Inwood was on January 28 (page 4066 of this thread). I usually wear it when I walk my dog at night. I must say, I've only owned a few modern era Stetsons, but the Inwood is the only one I've kept. I love it! The felt quality and fit are impressive. Very lightweight. I'd really like to get one in sage, but it looks like they've discontinued them all and I haven't had any luck finding one in my size.

I'll post a fresh pic here soon. May even include the dog. Haha...

Tirard Macreuse - Impermeable
Dark Blue Grey Unlined Felt
4 1/2 Crown as shaped (about 5 1/2 Open)
2 inch brim with rolled overwelt
1 3/8 matching grosgrain ribbon

Been under the weather for about the last week… but feeling back up to fooling around with some hats . And here is the perfect hat to kick things back off. The third hat from Stefan’s @steur magical mystery care box and the continuation of StingyMas in Springtime. A beautiful dark grey to blue unlined felt from Tirard maybe in the marine end of the spectrum. It is a very soft thin easily shaped felt. It features a 1 3/8 matching grosgrain mid-ribbon and a two inch brim with a rolled overwelt edge. A super nice easy wearing hat for sure… that works just as well brim up or brim down.

I just went back and looked at that picture. I'm going to be looking for one, especially after what you said about the felt quality. it looks very good, like it would be equally smart-looking with a suit or jeans and T-shirt. I look forward to another pic of the hat and dog

Last week the Lost Cowboy posted pix of a Whippet and he also listed it for sale in the Classifieds here @ TFL. The hat was in pretty nice shape except for the fact it needed a new sweatband. Nathan had it priced right and it soon was on it's way to me. I promptly ordered a new sweatband from my regular supplier but yesterday when the hat arrived I was still waiting on the new sweatband so I did the only logical thing I could think of. I removed one of the sweatbands from another hat (one of the first I ever sewed in) and used it for this hat. I can always replace it when my order arrives. Lol. Nathan was kind enough to toss a mystery hat in with the Whippet. A nice old J.C. Penney Marathon but I haven't had time to mess with it much.

General hat “looking after question”. Has any one found a good wall hanger for hats and if so where. All I find locally are coat hooks. Be nice to arrange them on the wall.

Nathan had it priced right and it soon was on it's way to me. Ive got several of these from Amazon. Wood base and coated heavy wire holders. Each piece holds two hats.... each box will take care of six hats total. I decided that hats 4 deep was more practical than 6 deep for me. Pretty flexible for filling up a wall Think ive got 60 hats on the wall to date

Relaxing out back this afternoon with a nice little 3x Stetson that was snatched from the jaws of oblivian last year

It started life as a Stetson Tijuana. Some brain dead rodent decided that they needed to get a big pair of scissors and hand cut the brim down t about 1-1/2". It also had a lot of moth holes and brim tears where someone evidentlly had too much to drink and tried to force a size 7-1/2 head into a 7-1/4 hat. It was a really sad little hat when it got here. Two rips were big enough to get a couple fingers through.

It got disassembeled and I got the crown worked down in order to gain another 3/4" of brim. I used the original felt hatband to punch out about a half dozen matching plugs and strips that were grafted into the old moth holes and tears. Did some serious fabric glue and hand sewing work. I also grafted on a 1/8" strip of slightly stiffer felt to the brim edge and did a brim binding on the edge ( to give the brim a bit of rigidity) Added a matching grosgrain hatband to cover up several holes on the crown. You can still see where the damage was, but its back to being a wearable hat again. All in all a pretty decent job of salvage and camouflage. This was my first brim binding, and Im much better at it these days lol.

It may be a Mutt... but its MY Mutt and I enjoy getting it out once in a while. Much better outcome than just tossing it in the trash

It's a Stetson Latte in Grey. Florentine Milan Straw. Yep, plastic straw, lol, but it feels nice with its fabric sweatband. I much prefer hemp, but I still like the way this Latte looks. It's a Latte fun to wear.

Stetson NOR 3X with 2.5/2.625 BE x 5.625/5.75 depending on tolerance. Red liner. Very soft felt like a Royal De Luxe or better.
