Off to spend a chilly weekend in Atlanta (and, weather permitting, Denver). A Misto felt Borsalino felt appropriate to travel in.

We have a couple more mild wet days before the ice monster gets here. Supposed to be down near 10 degrees sunday and monday morning. Have been gathering bread and pot roast supplies. still need to go fill up some gas cans for the generator today... Im ready and warm hats standing by. Still crossing my fingers we see some snowflakes for the puppy's sake

This morning its a leather and big dark felt day. One of the old Houston made American Hat co lids gets the call today. Liner was missing when I got it and theres no tag with any quality designation. Definately a fur felt and not wool. Its a super nice felt. super smooth and dense

I've opened Pandora's box, and out came a series of fuzzy Borsalinos in various shades of gray.
Borsalino colore 7.jpg

This is a "recent" product from the Alessandria-based company and has the brand logo on the knot, which isn't exactly one of the Borsalino characteristics I love.
Borsalino colore 2.jpg
The felt is moderately fuzzy, and the color is a fairly light gray with a warm undertone.
Borsalino colore 8.jpg
The felt is very malleable, and the finishing is top-quality. It was sold in a region in the far south of Italy. The color is #72, and its size is 6 1/2, or 67 1/2 in the US.

Have a nice day, everyone, and thank you for your kind comments.
Please keep showing me your hats, thanks.

1950s Dobbs *** Prince. This one about a decade newer than the one from the other day. Interesting observation on the felt quality between the two. They both have that velvety finish that is expected on the GP…. This one however has noticeably thinner felt it, feels to me, especially in the brim however even though it is incredibly thin and soft it does not hold a pinch anywhere as well as it’s “mold like clay” 1940s sibling.

In the box of gray Borsalino hats, this Guerra and its brother, finished with long hair in two different colors, popped up
Guerra Pelo Panna 4.jpg

The Guerra 1855 is 61 cm (24 in), or 7 5/8 in the US.
Guerra Pelo Panna A.jpg
No other information was provided other than that it is waterproof and handmade in Italy.
The felt, given its color and texture, was almost certainly produced by the Panizza di Ghiffa factory.
Guerra Pelo Panna B.jpg
It is very similar to hats of the same brand in my collection.
The hat has medium finishes and the proportions of an Italian hat from the 1970s; the added bonus is the felt, its long hair finish, and its softness

Thanks for your likes, and a shout-out to all you tireless hat wearers and seekers.

Still hovering right at freezing this morning. Heavy thunderstorm overnight and should be dropping and switching over to sleet and ice within the hour. Just enough time to go grab a cup of coffee. Once it drops another degree, we should be below freezing toll mid-day tuesday. As a nod to yesterdays new-to-me Banjo Paterson, Im declaring today Austrailian Writers day and hauled out my favorite old Akubra Lawson

Thank you, Mark. You're too kind.
