Every good mechanic knows when wrenching, the first and best tool for any job is The Mechanics Fedora.
To wrench without one is just uncouth.

while I’m certainly no “good mechanic“ This hat with it’s slightly Indy-esq tone certainly is up for the adventure.

What a beauty! I bet this one could tell some stories.
Thanks…. It sure looks like it may have been on some adventures. and just to note.. it may be a lightweight “zephyr” felt. But I think we have to speak in relative terms here.. this is lightweight by Canadian standard. lighter weight… but also still rugged!

Ottmar Reich, possibly 1920s. I am not sure of the Straw type or Weave but it's very light weight. The Band is wide with a Cord and has an interesting Bow design. The Mother of Pearl Button was missing from the Bow but I found a replacement. Ottmar Reich was located in Lindenberg, Germany (was the major German Straw Hat center) and the old factory building is now the Deutsche Hutmuseum (German Hat Museum). Ottmar Reich was originally only a Straw Hat factory but added Felt Hat production in the 1932. I found this Stiff Straw Hat back in 2016.

HAPPY Mid Thursday! Major Mr Moose update today. Just off the phone with the vet and there was a miscommunication regarding the cost of Moose surgery $1500 NOT $15,000!!!!! ( old ears and brains just dont work well sometimes I guess LOL) I feel like the weight of the world just got removed from the shoulders. The Go fund me page my niece set up may actually cover things! Heartfelt thanks for the donations

Excellent news there, Rick. Our four legged friends are family members in a way and we take care of them as best we can.

Rough day yesterday afternoon.... Mr Moose the Lab was diagnosed with an aggressive tumor on his spleen. He just turned 7 last month. still trying to figure out the options. Have a steak thawing out for tonight. Till we figure things out there will lots of car rides and treats... Threw on an Open Road this morning and were heading out for a ride now... let those ears flap in the wind
