Two westerns for $27. Looking forward to testing the limits of my hat cleaning skills :).

I can't seem to resist the urge to rescue some hats. This unknown brand fedora said to be from 1890's, from the I Greentree store in Cheyenne, WY. I see on the Lounge that around 2012-13, Lounge members bought a number of hats from this same store that were being auctioned off. Some erroneously called it "L" Greentree. They gave 1907 as the year the store finally closed.

This 1900 newspaper article was included in the seller's description of this hat I bought. Says Greentree was planning on closing his store in March 1900. I see you've found that it was 1903 when he finally was able to sell his business. The seller said that 10 plus years ago, they bought a lot of 6 new old stock (NOS) hats from the Greentree store inventory, which all of his unsold stock had been in storage for over 100 years. So my hat was 1 of those 6 hats that had been in storage all those years, if the seller's story is taken at face value.

Looks like some of the Greentree stash ended up with Lounger @Dinerman (Spencer).
