I don‘t have a picture of it, but after watching Peaky Blinders I was in the mood for an Irish whiskey, and got in a bottle of Drumshanbo Single Pot Still. Have only had a couple of samples of this, but it’s very enjoyable, with a creamy mouth feel and a subtle sherry and toffee sweetness in the aftertaste. Makes a nice change.

Have you tried any Two Stacks Irish Whiskey? They do some interesting barrel aging options. There's one that they aged in ex Bourbon then sherry barrels that I thought was real tasty, particularly at the price point.

I haven’t tried any Two Stacks, no - honestly, I hadn‘t heard of it before so thanks for the tip @Bigsbycallaghan. Will keep an eye out for it! Supplies can be somewhat limited at this latitude, but you never know.

Ooooh, yeah. NZ is a bit of a haul for Irish whiskey to travel. We visited one of my good friends in Whangarei about 10 years ago and I remember a lot of white wine and Double Brown beer

Ah! I have a friend in Whangerei too, but have been remiss and not visited yet.

There’s a thriving craft beer scene here, for those that are into it, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by what you can get hold of here (in terms of things like European wines and a reasonable selection of whiskey) - but there’s definitely a lot that can‘t be got, and that applies to all material goods. I do need to make an effort to keep my spending and drinking within healthy limits anyway, so it’s probably for the best!
