We are 'snowed in' (or at least a West Coast wimp's version) here this week. My wife and I came inside after shovelling the driveway and stairs just before another mini blizzard struck us. So it seemed only fitting to spark the fireplace and poor ourselves a generous dram of Talisker 10 year. I like it a lot, not an outstanding whisky but good value and its lightly smoked flavour comforting on a cold winter's night.

To mark the ebb of Friday and the soon arrival of Saturday, the Missus requested a Lemon Drop, but hold the simple syrup. I enjoyed a whiskey sour, with Two Stars bourbon. Put the feet up, dial down the brain, and feel the spring unwind.

Nachtmann is a german manufacturer, producing fine working-class stuff for absolutely fair prices.

I just hated my usual taller kitchen glasses and always wanted more practical glasses in old-fashioned Tumbler shape. Today, I grabbed some of these 245ml cuties.
