Since we've moved to Texas we've found a lot of great local breweries. Shiner isn't one of them and this stuff is completely undrinkable and went down the sink.
I bought it hoping it would be like the excellent Young's Double Chocolate Stout. No such luck!

Same reasoning here. Fortunately, I happen to have a Young's DCS sitting right next to me. Unfortunately, I only have the one. It has always been my understanding that Shiner makes ****. From experience, I would rather have one than drink one, it's less painful.

Yes, Shiner is pretty much the beer of last resort. You're probably right that getting a shiner would be less painful.

I cannot fault you for trying as so would I. How could one not be curious about something labelled "Birthday Beer Chocolate Stout?" Although I would agree with you on it being a beer of last resort, I am pretty sure that powers will argue that label belongs to PBR.

You should try it. It's not an overwhelming apple flavor...but a nice hint to the Crown Royal taste.

You mean beer of not resort. I was reading my latest Whiskey Advocate and Lew Bryson mentions how the Boiler Maker is making a comeback. My favorite line: "it came out of ****ed-out dive bars into the trendier places, carried by hipsters and artists and mutated as it spread."
A can of PBR and a shot of Jim Beam. uke: He mentions that doing such would not be respecting the whiskey but with that combination, bad twice doesn't say much. The Sly Fox Pilsner and Heaven Hill combination mentioned doesn't seem like the horror story that the previous combination is though.
