The 1940s vintage tie was a recent yard sale find. The 1960s shirt and jacket are vintage Goodwill and the 1950s summer hat is......well, I can't remember where I got that.

Raiding Berlin thrift stores in sporty superhero attire last week.
40s jacket, modern cricket vest, vintage navy (?) trousers (blue ribbon brand), cheap linen shoes. NO TIE!
I really like this look. Classic but not uptight. I need to find a jacket like that!

Had my 5' 2'' tall Grammie snap this shot, so it looks a bit odd for the angle!!

Thank you. 40s jackets like this can be found comparatively cheap since it doesn't have the sought after features like a beltback or crazy pleats at unusual places. The fit is still great and so much better than a modern sportcoat.

This is today, channelling author Terry Pratchett via the medium of wearing the first things that fell out of the wardrobe this morning. Didn't even realise I'd donned a fedora rather than the more customary (with this jacket) newsboy until I hit the lift on the way out...:
Sunday night just past, I slobbed out very casually. I was off to the theatre (real theatre, not cinema) with a friend to see Rock of Ages again, and thought I'd blend in. Unfortunately I was a good approaching forty years too late for that...
Rather a long shirt that is designed to be worn out (ideal for casual rockabilly jive), but needs tucked up and in when that jacket is closed... Always amusing wearing braces under a shirt like this. Feels like I'm wearing a bra!
Finally, some shots of Saturday night past, at an annual birthday party event hosted jointly by three chums who have birthdays within days of each other:
