My boater is vintage; everything else is reproduction.
Just fabulous Edward, how I would have loved to join you, but the lady's recovery is not up for it just yet.

You mention reproduction, let me show you what I might have worn:

Going Grey 001.JPG Going Grey 002.JPG

The shirt is collarless, straight off my wife's sewing machine along with the twenty-two inch hems of the baggy trousers. The double breasted waistcoat is another of the lady's handiwork.
The bespoke hat is from Gamble & ***n, whilst Colin Johnson made the shoes. The detachable collar and tie are lost in the mists of time.

I had a special work event today, a "summer soirée," and so debuted some summery attire in today's outfit: a cream double-breasted Palm Beach genuine cloth suit (tailored by Goodall; sold by W. B. Davis Co.); brown-white Allen Edmonds "Broadstreet" spectator shoes; grey striped shirt from Darcy; "Duncan" style Arrow starched collar (Cluett, Peabody & Co.); and a blue persian "1916" tie from Southworth Tailoring Co. Knox straw hat not pictured.

Here I am again with those two-tone Broadstreets and a blue persian tie, in another outfit. This was last Friday, at an ice cream social, within a seaside city park (formerly residential, I am standing in front of where President Taft once had his summer white house). Spier & Mackay wool/linen trousers and jacket. Darcy blue broken stripe shirt and collar. Copley straw hat.

The blazer by Fox Tailoring is centre piece. The trousers are high waisted, I left the blazer buttons undone so that you can see Tina's work. The hat is bespoke by Susquehana and former Lounger, SimonC made the shoes. The shirt was Tina's first attempt at making a spearpoint collar. The lady is not happy with it, I'm delighted.

This blazer was one of those lucky finds that I came across at a festival that has been forgotten in the mists of time. It was a poor fit and although I liked the colour and stripes, it wasn't much good if it didn't fit.
The trader had probably had others say much the same, he offered it for just a few pounds. Tina was standing nearby, she came over and whispered: "Take it, I can make it fit."

maroon blazer grey baggies 007.JPG

And make it fit she did. The sleeves hadn't been inserted correctly, she soon fixed that. Then she repositioned the buttons and, hey presto, it fits. The lady had previously made a beautiful pair of
cream coloured trousers that went well with this blazer, but I had hoped to wear it to work and
cream coloured trousers in my work enviroment wouldn't be cream for long.
Look what Tina came up with, she really is a talent.

Tomorrow the will be a Swingtime era concert on the lawns in fromt of that central arch. The building is 800 year old Salisbury Cathedral. We have been invited to come along in the old MG. Today is a final rehearsal to make sure everything goes where it should.

Previous concert at Salisbury. Annoyingly I cannot find mine or any on the internet of the huge audience.
I do remember an amusing quip: "First time that I have been to church since last year's concert"

Late 1990s flying ducks tie by Tie Rack

Me on the left with Andreas Zerr (centre) and (right) Rob Bagnall (author of Still the Best is Feeding , probably the most complete book to date on the Rocky Horror cult, or one of them anyhow) on Sunday past at the premiere of Andreas' rather wonderful documentary on Rocky Horror, its history, and the fandom. Everything is repop - tie and blazer are from Socialite by Revival Vintage, shirt is Savile Row Company, trousers Darcy Clothing cotton/linen mix. Just in the bottom corner Milano straw Stratoliner by Stetson; not in picture SJC Spectator shoes. bought that blazer in a sale last May, very fond of it. They also do it in a nice tan colour. The tan one has matching trousers available, which appeals. Alas, the blue did not.

Indefectible Edward, shame we can't see your shoes by Simon. The blazer almost makes up for it though. You sound wistful that the blue didn't have matching trousers. A plain blue, same blue as the stripe, would enhance that fabulous blazer.

Pinstripe Blazer 006.JPG

By coincidence I too wore a pinstripe blazer today. Have to admit though, it was just an excuse to wear the new shoes.

Very nice. Are those Colin Johnson? The asymmetric matching wingtips look very much like one of his. Incredibly good shoes for the outlay involved, and I've not seen anyone else offer such a range of colour OTR.

The Darcy trews are a French Navy shade in daylight, but I'm tempted to try it with something lighter too. Or possibly my old Darcy cricket whites if I can address than having, eh....shrunk a little in the wardrobe.

Indeed the shoes are made by Colin, he got them ready just in time for Twinwood, where a good friend collected them for me. My wife's heart recovery forbad the journey, Twinwod had to be missed this year.

That wretched syndrome of wardrobe shrinkage has an antidote. When I quit alcohol, totally quit that is, I lost the "waistband squeeze" too. In fact I lost a total of 21 pounds without any effort other than declining the grog!

They are very nice indeed. I trust Mrs GHT recovers well, do send her my best.

Ha, yes. Alas it seems my minimal drinking being behind me - I'm on the wagon since January due to the liver issues. Not caused by the grog, but I knew it wouldn't help anyhow - hasn't had much impact there. I'm gonig to have to resort to taking the dog out more often...

Thank you Edward, and my lady says thanks, we both hope that your liver problem is responding to the prescribed medication.
What am I wearing today? A hernia truss, wretched thing, scared me witless when it first appeared. The hernia thayt is, not the truss One of my nuts ballooned up. Had to be testicular cancer, couldn't be a treatable hernia. An appointment to see a surgeon has been booked for Monday week. All being well it will be sorted with keyhole surgery.

The sunshine makes the blazer look grey, it's actually light blue, powder blue I think it's known as. Tina says that if I drive her to her favourite fabric shop, she will see if there's a plain blue in a similar hue that she can make a pair of trousers to compliment the jacket.

I decided to go a little 1950s for church and then a rendezvous with my wife at a local historic house yesterday. The 2-piece 2-button narrow lapel greenish-rust suit is by a sadly unrecorded, probably provincial, tailor, the tab-collar shirt is modern by Revival Vintage, the tie is in a pleasingly old-fashioned pattern by Cavendish and the pocket handkerchief is probably Austin Reed. Worn with a green Christy Adventurer fedora and chestnut Crockett and Jones 'London' brogues. I also carried a recent acquisition, a Fox-frame umbrella with dark Malacca silver-mounted handle as the weather was threatening rain (and delivered, at least by mid-afternoon)
