Wested Doctor Who / Das Boot Coat

I like the style of the coat. Do you find it reasonable to wear for regular use, or is it just "for looks"?

Beautiful jacket. Ordering from Wested 2 years ago was my first experience with a mail order leather jacket. I was a little apprehensive about the whole thing. But customer service was great. It came much earlier than promised, Christmas Eve as I recollect. What could be better?

Hello old thread =) If anyone is still interested, I just got this same coat in (apparently) distressed black horsehide. I'm guessing horsehide from my experience with other WWII era coats. I also have the Badwolf, and 3 Magnolis. Of them all I am surprised to say I like the Wested leather the best overall (not as a repro). It's not a spot-on Doctor Who Eccleston coat in the cuff straps which are about 1/2 too high on the sleeves, and the chest pockets are too high on the chest to be accurate. I have seen authentic period coats with these same features, just not the one worn by Eccleston. In fact, I own a WWII black version of the exact pattern used for Doctor Who that I use for reference.

Of the many I have collected and tried I like the Wested the best...and it's just a Sz M OTR. I wish the pockets and sleeve straps were different, but I am not going to have one made to get it right. I have learned that too much can go wrong and this jacket feels and fits great. Oh, they skimped A LITTLE on the double stitching down the back. Magnoli definitely did that better...closer to the original.

I don't know how that pic got so grainy and scratchy...FGS it's digital. You can see I am reworking the collar which needs to be deeper (folding closer to the top chest button. Oh yeah, Buttons. The Wested buttons are also not spaced like the Doctor Who coat Vertically. I better show the original:

I'll repeat my question, Ray: you've got a size Medium Wested, so what size are you personally? 40R? 42R? your height? I realize that Wested has a measurement chart but I'm trying to gauge how these fit and I've found that I sometimes need a "tall" but sometimes I'm okay with a "regular"
