I have a Tag Heuer Monaco and its great, in my view its pretty timeless and will remain so. I have had no issues with mine at all., its well made and I wear it at least 2 times a week ( I have a few watches).
Guess it depends on the style you want... When you buy have a look at some of the used watches, if you buy right you can get a lot more for your cash.

Agree, although I do like some of recent carrera reissues. I also have an original Heuer Monaco, which is great. No two ways about it, it was expensive and buying it was painful; but if you want an original they are still out there. A good UK based site for Heuer is:
