Legit TFL member posted in one of my sale threads in the Classifieds, inquiring about an item that I am selling, only to be DM'ed by someone pretending to be me, replying from another TFL profile account & immediately offering a better deal while claiming that they "I" cannot log in to "my" original account at the moment due to whatever.

That the whole thing is a fraud is, of course, plainly obvious, the swindler being barely literate for instance (which is baffling, considering all the technology of today one has a free access to that they could be using to make their criminal activities at least somewhat palatable... But then again, not having enough wits to think of that is precisely what makes them filth that they are) but we all know how clouded ones judgement becomes when something that we want finally turns up for sale - Especially if the deal appears to just good enough not to be too good to be true.

But anyway, goes without saying that if you get a DM from any account other than mine, saying it's me - Report it immediately.

When they DM’d the legitimate TFL member (who had responded to your post), did their username show “Monitor” or had they created a similar looking account … I.e. “Monitor_”?

No, it was a whole different, new account that wasn't even remotely similar to mine. The account name was different, there was no avatar photo, etc. That's why they said they can't log in to "their" original account. When the person they contacted told them the whole thing sounds suspicious, they began spewing out some nonsense how they're "not just a man of god but also a man committed to their word" lol.

We appreciate that you and other TFL members shared these experiences as the happen to make us aware that this type of deception/fraud happens here, and everywhere.

It helps in keeping us grounded and aware of our surroundings.
