We are friends and have discussed hats a lot here and via email. I can't swear to it, but I think most of his hats were in that 5-3/4" range.
I notice a lot 20 and 30s hats are 5 3/4”, it appears to be standard for that period

You might be surprised at the diverse styles back then. Tall crowns on some with stingy (narrow brims). Tall crown with wide brim is seen more in the 40s and 50s, at least in my limited experience.

Standard Quality, maybe. Four pre 40’s. One 5 3/4 crown, one 5 3/8 and two 5 1/2. Two 2 1/4 brims and two 2 1/2.

Now for the incentives

Any felt hat order in the month of May will be discounted to Lounge members by $50 for Joey quality , $75 Century quality and $150 on Legacy quality. That makes finished hats $225, $310, and $999 respectively.

Thank you for helping with this venture

Hey guys.

I’ve been reading through this thread backwards, and I have to say I hate that I wasn’t present for the Art Fawcett era. The one AF hat I have (so far) is one of my favorite hats. I wish I would have had the opportunity to order a custom one myself.

I have a couple questions, if you would be so kind.

Is David Gibson still operating? Under the name Vintage Silhouettes? Have you had any experience working with him?

No, David Gibson purchased the web site, moved eastward. There is no connection between the two other than David worked with Art for a while. Art was incredibly generous with me as I received the opportunity to travel to S Oregon and receive his mentorship. It was a huge boost to my hat making skills.

That post from Brent right above this prompts me to ask a question I've been meaning to ask. Anyone know where he's gone? I'm hoping he just tired of posting and is still out there scoring sweet hats and enjoying them.

Brent is alive and well. He started a FB page for Custom Hat Makers,: makers, collectors and fans. He has downsized his collection....and I think it is an ongoing process.
