Folks today take it for granted, but at
one time this was not the case and the
BFM used it along with the name of the hotel
which was very "cool" especially in the summer time when the temps average 100+ daily.

The "Air Conditioned" sign is still standing... although not sure how long the name will remain.

I remember my dad and grandmother telling me people (including them) would go to the movies in the '30s, sometimes, mainly just for the air conditioning. It seems that movie theaters were some of the early adopters of AC.

When it comes to “refrigeration”, this comes to mind...

And to this day, I still call it the “icebox”.
And although the “ice-maker” stopped working years ago.
I use plastic ice trays, but would prefer the metal trays with
the lever to pop out the cubes.

Btw:
Do you know how restaurants are able to make ice cubes
which are clear ?

To the day they died, my dad and grandmother called a refrigerator an "icebox," the movies the "moving pictures," and a diner (sometimes) a "lunch wagon."

When I lived with my grandmother, I recall the delivery ice truck bringing in the ice in blocks. The man had some kind of huge metal prongs, he would carry the ice into the kitchen.
My grandmother using an ice pick to cut into smaller pieces and put inside
the ”icebox”.

The iceman had a tarp of some kind to cover the ice in the back of the truck.
Always wondered how long before the ice would melt in the back of the truck especially in Texas hot weather!

I remember my dad and grandmother telling me people (including them) would go to the movies in the '30s, sometimes, mainly just for the air conditioning.

We had no air conditioning at home so a movie in the evening in summer was 2 treats in one. Even if the movie wasn't partiarticularly good, just being there where it was cool and dry was worth it.

Do you know how restaurants are able to make ice cubes
which are clear ?

Running the water in a continuous stream over the platen until the layers build to the desired cube size before going into the harvest cycle makes decently clear ice out of most waters.
