well i ran across a picture of marysville ca national theatre within its first few months of operation before it burned and was renamed. i hope they get thier 3 million restoration grant and use it to bring back the national marque which appears to be outlined with neon as well as lightbulbs
but since they went from national to state i guess it would be fitting to name it the "county" now

Thanks Harv! It's long been one of my favorites. I think it still lights up at night, I haven't been through there in years after dark. I remember at one time the eye winked open and closed when lit, but last time I saw it that feature wasn't working. I hope they've gotten it fixed.

Went to a concert at the local Gillioz Theatre here in Springfield, MO. It was general admission so while waiting in line I took a couple of snaps of the neon used on part of the marque. It is still serviced by a company that has been around since 1934.

I think there must be an Oasis in every town. Those that I know of do not tend to be much of a haven unless you are a complete drunk.

Hey Dale ... I stumbled across a partially lit version of Moon Winx!

The Hotel Seville in Springfield, MO was either a dump or closed for most of my adult life. it was recently redone and made into loft apartments. They kept, but modified the sign.

I used to go to Gailey Drugs next door for lunch when I worked about a block away (late 1980s). Cheeseburger and a chocolate malt with a raw egg (an extra 30-cents) at the counter as the rest of the space was filled with drug store sundries.

When the old folks closed the pharmacy and sold off the business it was reopened as a breakfast cafe. My brother-in-law, a life-time resident, apparently discovered the place after it opened for breakfast. He was excited to tell us about it. We asked what the place was called and he said "Prescriptions".
