My former boss, Jack L. Warner, he preferred being addressed as "Colonel".
Standing in front of his Neoclassical style mansion in Beverly Hills.

Screening room for watching favorite movies.
My duties consisted of securing the silverware, oil paintings, Oscars and
the staff being at their stations doing their chores plus grocery shopping with the list Mrs. Warner provided.

I had my own cottage at the estate
with all accomodations.
This job has got to be the most interesting and unique life style in my life with all the wonderful splendor of the place plus the delicious foods that cooks from all over the world prepared for us.

None of the views shows one of the most ubiquitous items of '60s decor -- the sunburst clock. When I was a kid everybody we knew had one.

Yes, they were ubiquitous, but not in rooms designed by professionals, who disdained them as cliche. Professional designers of the period preferred DIFFERENT cliches.

Those stunning interiors were designed by Billy Haines. It must have been sheer magic yo live there in those days. You appear to be rather fond of the Waners. Were they kind employers?

Rare not to see a television set in the room.

My niece who lived in the King Williams District once chastised me when I asked,
"nice... but where's the TV...the Spurs are playing for the Championships tonight?

She told me...
"We are here to have a conversation,
not watch a silly basketball game!"

I don't have pictures of the interior, but
this will give you an idea.

The entire neighborhood is comprised of these types of homes.
Sometimes I will ride my 1900s bicycle
in this area.

The Ladies Conservation Society will only
allow new additions to the homes as long as it is in keeping with certain guide lines or looks from that period.
