Two film projectors and a movie screen belonging to the Rev. S.S. Jones, a Baptist circuit preacher during the 1920s and ’30s, were donated Monday by historian Currie Ballard.
"These were high-dollar projectors in their day,” Oklahoma History Center curator Bruce Fisher said. "They were used for more than showing home movies. It was for some type of education purposes.”
Earlier this year, Ballard auctioned 29 vintage reels filmed by Jones that featured blacks living in Oklahoma during the 1920s. The collection was purchased by Yale University. A copy was sold to the Oklahoma Historical Society.
