Vintage eyebrow shapes

It's much softer, indeed. And I think it makes my eyes stand out more. But I also kind of (maybe) think the thicker brows make me look more distinguished.

I'm jealous of all the ladies that have enough eyebrow to pluck and make into shapes. Mine are naturally thin & rounded (no arch), if I plucked them I wouldn't have anything left. It seems to me that a good arch really perks ups a face, but I guess I'll have to stick to my brows.

1930's recently, trying to grow them for 1940's

We went to an Art Deco event at the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite the beginning of March. I tweezed mine to be thin like the 1930's style, then went to my esthetician at Nordstrom that does threading for my eyebrows to do the cleanup and get them to match. Now I want to grow them out a bit to be done in a more 40's style, then have her work on them again.

I stopped having my eyebrows waxed after seeing her to buy facial products one day after having just had them waxed. She said the waxing was burning my face. That's how I found out about threading from her, and its so much better and less painful too. She also tints my eyebrows cuz' a number of them are very blonde and some are white, if I plucked the white ones out (as I had previously done) it always looked like I had too many bare spots. Tinting looks good, and I have them done just a bit darker than they are naturally.

I gave up on doing them myself years ago...

Once I had to add bifocals it was too much work to be able to see well enough. By having someone else do them of course they match! I'd had waxing done for a while, but have recently switched to threading.

the after is great!

They look 40's to me, cuz' the middle part next to your nose is thicker. The curving arching shape you've done is very pretty on you... If you wanna be a 30's girl you gots ta go thinner probably. Try looking up pics of Clara Bow, and Gloria Swanson in her silents days to see good 20's shaping.

I plucked my brows thinner. I was aiming at 20's brows, but I think they still arch too much, so maybe the shape is more 30-32 eyebrows, even though they aren't quite thin enough. What do you think? Better before or after? Before and after photos:

I know they are still too thick to be 30's, but I don't think I'm prepared to go any thinner just now.

I want them less arched though, more 20's, but I don't think it's possible. Can't these pass for 20's? Haha.

The new one are lovely but more plain(standard) than the ones you had. I still think the others are more you. Does this make sense?!

Yes, my original bushy brows are more unique, I agree Mary. It's fun to try something different, though. I just need to be careful not to pluck so much that they never grow back. lol

You look beautiful both ways, Laura Chase. I tend to favor the first look, just because it stands out more, however the more plucked ones are indeed softer. You can wear them however you like, you look stunning anyway.

Since I wear mostly 50's clothing I have my eye brows quite arched. Yesterday was a 60's hair day though

Thank you, and thank you for pep talking me into getting them thinner. I like it a lot, just need to get used to it - I've plucked 3/4 of my brows. lol

Just a little trick: I used a white pencil to mark off what to pluck and what not to pluck. I just covered the area I wanted to pluck in white and used it as a guiding line. It worked really well!

Wow Laura, not everyone can get away with that! I had to wait 3 months after my last mistake and now I'm completely brow phobic beyond removing obvious strays.
