It seems there was some odd trend back in about the late forties to late fifties in tie design that featured abstract renditions of various protozoans. I have seen countless ties from the general era with designs that are reminiscent of something one would see under a microscope in a sample of pond water. Or maybe this was just The Atomic era version of a "paisley"? [huh]
