Tweed, Tweed, Finally Tweed!!!!

Well I come before you a very elated man . After more than a year of combing thirft stores, ebay, and vintage clothing web sites, I have finally found a 3pc Tweed Suit that will fit my... lets say "large" frame. I was even considering ordering the tweed from Indy Magnoli (now maybe I can use that money for a different one of his ). I found this gray one today in a local GoodWill store for $25.00. It is not as old as I would like to have had but I am happy with it just the same. It fits perfectly with the exception of the sleeves being just a tad to short,which should be remedied simply. The inseem is even the right lenth. It appears to have real leather covered buttons. I guess it is from the late 70's or early 80's. I think I may have another button hole put on the coat to make it a three button. Let me know what you think.

Tweed suit

Mr. Undertaker,

A nice suit in good condition. Youa sked for comment on the conversion - my opinion is that a two button jacket looks better with a waistcoat. The stance of your jacket is quite high anyway. I'd leave it.

I went back and looked at some others I saw posted in different places and the tweeds seem to have often been 2 buttons. I will probably leave it alone.

It has taken me about 5 years to develop my meagre vintage wardrobe, mainly containing the proverbial grey flannel suit/s

Thanks for the comments, you all are very kind. As for the buttons I have a friend that has a sewing machine that does button holes. She tells me that She can do it relatively easily if the line of the lapel is strait. I would think doing the reverse would be quite difficult. I have decided to leave this one as is. To go to a three button would almost completely cover the vest and I do enjoy the vest, let's me use my watch chains correctly .

I can't argue with that. Oviously knows more than I ar my friend. Like I said I will just leave mine alone. It has taken me too long to find it to let some one ruin it. Thanks for the info.
