I've never seen THEY LIVE BY NIGHT, which is the classic film noir based on the novel Thieves Like Us.

I have, however, just seen THIEVES LIKE US, the remake by director Robert Altman. It is still set in the 30s and I really liked it.

Anyone else seen it? Anyone seen the original? Anyone read the book?

I'm not especially crazy either filmed version (or BONNIE AND CLYDE for that matter), but the book is great. Stark and poetic. Anderson's other book, HUNGRY MEN, is also a tremendous read.
