The modern Whippett hats have shorter crowns and have more taper. Theyre not terrible hats, but in my mind, there are lots of decent Actual old actual vintage Whippets available (as well as lots of "whippit-ish looking" hats that Stetson made without the Whippet markings) You can get a vintage Whippet like hat for about the same pricepoint as a modern one. The older crowns are taller and more vertical.... much more classic appearance.... also the newer modern Whippets are often wool or a wool/ fur blend depending on the model. The older furfelt vintage hats are usually much nicer hats.... My 2 cents.... spend some time looking around and go for an older hat... get a clean vintage fur felt and the worst is that you may have to spring for a new leather sweatband. You can get a nice new sweat on etsy for $20-ish pre assembled and ready to sew in. Do some research and learn how to sew one in...... if youre moderately coordinated, its not rocket science. You may like and look fine under a modern hat, but youll be proud of a nice vintage hatI have been curious about the Whippet. Would you recommend them?
