The Silk Knit Tie

A few years ago, the "Rooster" brand made knit ties that were nearly 4 inches wide. The bottom was tipped, rather than flat, and it looked good.

Most of mine are 3-1/2 inches and tipped, like so.

Silk knit ties are a true classic.The solid colored ones are the BEST ties to wear with strongly patterned suits and sportcoats, no matter how loud the houndstooth, chalkstripe, or glen plaid might be. And as simple as they are, they look incredibly handsome ... perhaps because of their simplicity.

Man, this Chevalier guy really knows his stuff.

And they seem to do them damned nicely, too, so why not?

A reliable source once told me that there are just a couple of Italian mills that make silk knits and that even all the venerable tie makers such as Charvet, Marinella, etc...contract out to these mills. Of course, they are made to their specifications regarding cut and color.

That would seem to explain their price.
