Fascinating stuff. A lot of this was screened by the BBC some years ago. I remember at the time historical experts who worked on the show saying that a lot of the footage had been in the control of the British government at the time but that it had been suppressed as they were concerned that colour footage would make it all seem to "real" and erode support for the war effort. Maybe there is something in that, I don't know - I know I myself find it very chilling seeing real images of Germany's WWII-era leader and of conflict in colour, they really do hit home. Especially for me the images of people off duty, clowning around - like Germany's WWII-era leader on holidays, that sort of thing. For all the Allies demonised Germany's WWII-era leader and the top Germany's WWII-era leaderships, it is when you see them at their most human that I find what they did all the more chilling (holds good for anyone, really).
