I thought that i would´nt like a Derby. But something happened, I Liked wear it a lot, and now i want wear the derby more often than i wear it. For short i dont like how it sees in others but me. I know a litle narcisist from me.

Biltmore Imperial "Derby" (their term, used loosly) in the color "congac". This is not completely what I could call a stiff felt. I thought it would turn out to be a homburg, but it isn't. The top of the crown is not hard, the sides are, kind of. So I would call this a semi-stiffy. The construction is very high quality, as the Imperial series should be. I would like more curl to the brim. That is the only part of the hat that resembles a homburg. Strange bird in an odd color, I kind of like it.

Catching up after the weekend... I hope to steam a better curl into the brim, I think it is a touch flat. Don't know what I can do about the noticeable taper though.

J. Hückel´s Söhne "Elastic", French Point Size 5 1/2, 148 grams, probably early to mid 1930s. I really like the bow design and the condition is near mint. I have many J. Hückel´s Söhne Stiff Felts.

My new addition to this thread. I own an F.R. Tripler as well. However, the brim is not as wide and crown not as tall as this Adam piece. Not even gonna make an attempt to guess the year/its age. But purchased literally for a song with Dunlap Top Hat box in which it fits perfectly.

I just purchased another Stetson derby. Hopefully it fits. I won't have it for some time due to shipping. What I liked about it is the embroidered liner, I do not see often.
I believe that based on the size tags, this hat is from the early 1930s. However when you look at the exposition medal liner, it would normally not be from the 1930s. Would this hat be very late 1920s, or very early 1930s?
Here are some other dating details. It is my understanding that leather sweatbands that were not sewn together (taped) at the ends was pre 30s? But the bow is not frayed?

I have been wearing the Stetson derby Redfokker sold to me pretty much everyday since receiving it. There are many aspects of it that I enjoy. The slightly larger 3/8 size is comfortable, and the wide brim looks wonderful compared to the tighter brim Knox I have. Mostly at the moment I am purchasing for learning purposes. For example, I have decided I prefer summer unlined hats, they feel more casual and easier to wear. The lined Stetson I just purchased is an exception, because the embroidered liner just strikes me as different enough to want it.
I am hunting for a Borsalino bombetta, one that is unlined and in my size. Which is a 7 1/4 or 7 3/8 apparently. I don't have enough experience to know which is a better fit in a stiff felt hat etc. If anyone can help me find one of these Borsalino hats in my size, I would be very happy!
