If anyone has other links or any better information I would certainly appreciate it. That is a great picture of the fabric you posted. It makes sense to me now since the grey seemed to evoke a subtle blue as well.

Also, I am in California so even wearing a suit and tie can feel overdressed depending on where you interview.

from what i think i no,
from the late 40's until around late 58. suits were baggy and opulent. big shoulder jackets, trousers got cuffs and pleats back. it apperently was a reflection of "hey we won the war and we are real tired of the war time restrictions". people were working ect. around late 57 into 58 more sleek european design's started showing up (because they were still suffering from the war). lapels, ties got skinnier, the pants lost the cuff and pleats, the leg became more stream lined, over all clothes got more stream lined. like the country was heading eg-space propram "modern". also i think the grey mob started enjoying colours again. ties, shirts, and suits. men started to wear pink. but i think only elvis could pull that off. lol

At least until the mid to late 1930s, 15-oz. was a spring weight.

I picked up a 1950s wool atomic fleck suit for $15 at a local vintage shop. No tailoring needed the suit fit great. I will post a pick as soon as I figure out how to do that I also picked up a 1950s brown and tan hollywood jacket for another $15.

Might I like to stray a little bit by saying the Cary Grant learned from his father that 1 Expensive pair of good shoes is much better than 4 pairs of cheap shoes. From this expanded to a certain thriftiness throughout Grant's life. Grant would always require that he could keep his cloths from a movie and was known to sign onto a movie just because of the Wardrobe. Even at the height of his career he had a relativily small wardrobe of the finest clothing.

I haven't put it up yet, should be up later today. I think it's a 38R, can't remember the trousers.

Really nice suit. Needs to be pressed but it looks very Sharp. Mine is grey with atomic flecks.

You know what, you're right. His choice of hats was also very good. (He especially looked dapper when he wore his hair piece.)

I just started finding 1950s fleck suits in thrift shop all over San Diego area. I really like the wool sport coats. I hit the Jack pot last week when I found a fleck gab jacket and wool coat the same day.
