I purchased mine on ebay, although they are thin and silky. My boyfriend said I look like a burnout so maybe I need a different kind. I'd love to crochet one myself, I think I'm ***na give it a whirl in a couple of weeks.

40s pattern crotched snoods from CherryRed

I just got three snoods from CherryRed - my almost 15yo daughter and I LOOOVE them! I am now a snood fan! CR makes hers from a 40s pattern and adds a removable large grosgrain bow at the top. I ordered an orange-red, yellow and a black. I'm ordering 3 more in other colors. These are terrific, and even work with my hair being "servicewoman's" length.

I finally got a pic(s) taken of my wearing one! I had recently seen lots of archival pics and old films with gals wearing a snood with their hat, so I gave it a try. I really like the look.

Hmmmm, now thats a thought, even I can crochet a little bit. Might be fun to crochet and add sequins and beads. Knitting does not work so well for me...after a couple of rows the thread is so tight I need the jaws of life to pry it off the needle. Crocheting is much more forgiving. I would think some beautiful open lace fabric and you could stitch a beautiful snood too. I keep all the bead trimming from vintage evening dresses that are beyond repair, maybe this is a use for some of it. I'm getting some really good ideas from the fedora ladies. Thanks!

I wore my snood yesterday for the first time since probably last summer. It was actually the first time going out in public in it! I got nothing but positive reactions, telling me how cute I looked in it. One person even said "it looks like something your grandmother would wear. its gorgeous! Don't tell me they're coming back in fashion! Where ever did you find it?" I could tell she wanted to fondle it lol Also, someone else wanted to know why I was wearing it. He thought I was hiding something under it! (yeah, he has issues lol ) I'm going to be ordering some flower pins soon. My snood looks a little naked...maybe with a flower in it people will make more of a vintage connection?

I just tried my hand at crocheting a snood about two weeks ago, and it came out okay, though there was little spacing, so it was a little more reminisent of an over-sized beret, or something of the sort, haha... Take two!

After another darling review from Lisa Freemont Street, I caved and ordered two snoods from Va Va Va Voom on Etsy.

I'm excited to give them a try, especially on not-so-great-pin-curl days...which for me has been quite commn recently. I ordered a deep red and a black. I'd like to get cream, brown and navy at some point. I love the idea of pairing them with hair flowers!

Has anyone ever seen a snood made out of more of a sheer material, like a veil?

I saw this old movie once and now I REALLY wish I could remember which one, and the woman was in an evening gown, and her snood was actually made out of a veil-like material, black, and was worn like a snood would be. I remember the veil material was adorned with little diamonds. It was the most gorgeous thing I had ever seen - especially in the old black and white films - she was so sparkly!!!

'The Snood Lady' is based in England and has a website with a good range - if you google it you should find her. I've not bought any myself (perhaps next payday!), but a few other Loungers have mentioned her.
