I have this Simmons Bilt Roadster jacket, heavily worn for 6 years now:

Ok guys I’m done, took me about 18 months to get here but in hindsight I could’ve done it in around 4-6 months.

Basically took it from here:

And the last phases, after the previously posted ones here, were a rub with wet grounded coffee beans.

I liked it here but thought it was still mostly orange so I decided to give it another rub with fresh plant leaves to get something other than brown in it that would darken it naturally.

I was pretty happy at this phase but after wearing it a couple of times I realized it was just a bit too mad max looking for my lifestyle and wardrobe, plus it felt just a bit too spotty and still had some orange tones in it.

So for the final stage I gave it a mink oil rub using the towel I usually use on my black leathers to darken it a bit more evenly and blend in some almost black looking streaks left behind from the leaf rub.

And after it dried completely I’m very satisfied with the result, now it looks more balanced to my eye and entirely in the cinnamon/caramel spectrum, no more orange thank goodness.

It has great pullup, the color depth varies greatly with light, and now it works with my skin tone and wardrobe as well.

Yikes x 1000! That's an awful lot of gyrations for that jacket to go through to achieve the look you were after. The coffee grounds procedure alone seems a bit extreme - does the jacket have the aroma of a double latte with a triple shot of caffeine? The last three images, in different lighting, do convey a more seasoned product that does makes the jacket more appealing than what you started pout with though. Congratulations on your determination and patience but I wonder if the end result couldn't have been achieved in a less complex manner.

Thankfully no, I mean of course it did right after the coffee rub but I rinced it out well with a water spray bottle, I let it air dry in shade and then I rode on the bike with it for a few days and afterwards it was almost completely gone but I could still get a whiff now and then.

But after the plant rub, mink oil rub and further rides on the bike it’s completely gone, and thankfully just has a light leather smell, it didn’t really grab any new smell from the plant rub.

Thanks, I took a gamble, I know, if you recall or check my earlier posts, I bought it with that specific purpose, to experiment with it knowing I wasn’t going to wear it in its lighter color phases because it doesn’t work with my skin tone, but I love the cinnamon/caramel/dark-brown tones that natural leather eventually gets.

I thought worse case scenario I’ll just dye it black, or get another decoration piece for the house.

The end result is certainly appealing - I am partial to the burnt/deep orange hues and your jacket captures those color gradients perfectly.

Very unique Mediterranean flavor to your home - restrained yet tasteful.
