Now for a few good photos because it is a special occasion. It took40 years of shoe collecting before l was able to reach the lofty levels of bentivegna ostrich, and now that l am here, it feels AMAZING! Was it worth the wait? You bet your sweet boots it was. The bentivegna ostrich feels like nothing else, have never felt a shoe mold to the foot so well. Of course the ostrich plays a big part, but what about the bentivegna construction?? I will soon find out the answer.

Check out how nice my brown ostrich are.....brown burnished ostrich quills. For me it has always been about doing shoes at the highest level....have aspired to the highest levels all my life. Sometimes a man's dreams do come true.

Silvano Lattanzi wholecut suedes

I got lucky recently. A man was selling these shoes under the Brioni label. He didn't know what they were, but several tell tale signs told me they were a Lattanzi despite the really blurry photos. Received them today, and indeed they are Lattanzi with hand stitched soles. I know Lattanzi inside-out. Only worn a few times at most.

Picked up these used shell cordovan paraboot chambords on a Mecari japan. Original colour was cordovan No. 8 but then I dyed them to black.

Was very lucky to get these shoes, the classic plain toe derby shoe in shell cordovan. Bought them second hand because the retail for these is well into the 5 figures. Made with the highest construction technique, the mighty bentivegna construction (quadruple stitched). If you look closely you will see that the L welt is actually reversed half down the shoe and tucked under. Bentivegna is Lattanzi's flagship shoes, but you don't see too many these days because they cost too much.

As far as l am concerned this is the most highend shoe ever made. It is a prize shoe for numerous reasons. Have wanted a pair for decades, and now l have two. Shoemaking doesn't get any better than this. I could talk for an hour about what makes these special, needless to say l am delighted with my find.

Silvano Lattanzi handmade shell cordovan derby. Made in 1998-1999 during Lattanzi's heyday.

Got myself a nice big Branchini boy. NOS. Didn't want to pay the money, but lucky l got it because ones like this are hard to get. More photos when it arrives. Missed out on a tan wingtip the other day, it was a good one too. At least l now have 2 Branchini boys in my collection, but it should have been 3. I only buy the hand made ones with heavy rope stitching.
