I am going off a nice collection of Weyenberg paraphernalia I've collected over the last decade, as well as several hundred ads and maybe 150 pairs of live shoes. Just wondering, what supporting documentation do you have that shows unquestionably the particular arch support design used in that pair of shoes was not used after 1949? Keep in mind that patent info simply shows when a patent was attained... and not how long after that date it was still used... or even how long they used it prior to receiving the patent.

If you take a peek at the latest Florsheim offerings, they have a new line up of fairly higher end appearing shoes for a very high price. I am going to think those particular shoes are perhaps made either in Italy or ???? But they look miles ahead of the normal "kenmore" line that are made in India. The price is up there, near $600.00 a pair. I do not think the Horween shoes are made in India either, but don't quote me on that! I am very hopeful that Florsheim will point into a better direction then where they have been at the past 15 years or so. In defense of Florsheim in general, the normal "kenmore" line (just my opinion) has more bang for the buck then the modern made Allen Edmond shoe line. Recently Allen Edmond is asking far too much money for a mid weight and middle of the road quality shoe, just not worth the expense unless you get a deal on eBay or find a pair on sale. I'd just as soon spend my money on anything made in England or a heavy weight shoe made in Italy as to buy anything currently offered by A.E. And for a somewhat decent comparision, I have a old vintage pair of AE that are wingtips, a model that has been "extinct" for about 20 years or more...they almost weigh twice what the new AE shoes weigh.....and why? Materials! A mid to low quality shoe line being offered by Frye shoes points to a shoe that looks heavy weight but are made in Mexico and the materials are as cheap as you can come to find...far worse than the modern Kenmore shoes by miles....and the newest offerings by AE flat out remind me of those cheapo Mexican made shoes of Frye shoes. Oh they look nice and seem to be "assembled" fairly well....but feel like paper or cardboard instead of real leather. AE has lost any business they would ever have from our household. They are making a $150.00 a pair shoes and selling for near $400.00 or more a pair. Sure you can buy a pair that falls within their program of being rebuilt, which is nice,...expect to be rebuilding them often. Here we are going to stick to finding well made Foot Joy, Jarmen, Hanover, Nettleton, Vintage Florsheim or any number of Vintage NOS shoes or anything made by the top makers of England and some from Italy. You really just cannot beat real vintage. But one special note...we have a new hand made custom shoe maker floating on the forums now....I would suggest you check him out and see how wonderful his work is and to see his pricing is far below AE on basic shoes made to fit your feet.

Rider Boot Company just finished up clearing up a lot of their old inventory. They had some pretty unreal prices for some quality shoes and boots. These are the three pickups I made that I was very excited about.

Horween Natural/Whiskey Shell Cordovan ***boats - These were priced incredibly low ($135) because the seam was placed on the inner-side of the shoe instead of the heel.


Rider Dundalk Reverso 300 - These are a vegetable tanned leather boot that will undoubtedly get an awesome patina with age.


Rider Chelsea Boot - A different aesthetic for me but I couldn't pass them up at their reduced price.

Nice haul! I've purchased a few from Ron Rider and all were fantastic. Usually they were rebranded Borgioli, which are pretty darned nice.

Thanks! I am very pleased. He should be releasing his F/W 14 collection pretty soon here (along with a website update). I'm excited to see what he will be releasing.

I had and incredible day at the thrift store today. The first pair are some deadstock Florsheim Kenmoors, i got them for $35.



The next is a pair of Hanover LB Sheppards in Shell Cordovan, also $35.




Both were in my size which was amazing. I think they're both 1980s.

Score of the year especially the Sheppard shells as the shell was better quality then than now. Kenmoors NOS in regular sizes bring USD200 any day. I suggest you hit them now with some Cadillac conditioner or Venetian crème for the shell.

You HOPED so... as I did. Wishful thinking, though. Lower end materials and construction for a marketplace (US mens dress shoe wearers) that has very little knowledge or caring. How else can it be explained that the BICYCLE TOE is the #1 most sold design of mens US dress shoes today???? One of the alltime worst designs and everyone wears them. In Europe, the still love the captoe oxford and the wingtip oxford.
