I was thinking a lizard suit, snakeskin shirt, tortise cuff links, and ostrich tie. Couldn't find anyplace to put the water buffalo--and no, it's not going there!

Just picked up these Crockett & Jones today. Can anyone tell me what the skin is? At first I thought it was some sort of treated leather, but this has veins and a different "feel" to it.

Now, what about these...I was raised in IL, but I'm not sure if your ride these or milk them. I bought them because:
1. I was too impatient to wait for the Horween tanning process;
2. They went really well with my jockey helmet, harness, and silks;
3. They're 11.5 aaa with aaaaa heels with some guys name in them;
4. It's a cry to my wife for help with my addiction.

Now that I have them, tell me...are they horse or cow???

I have a rougher brown wingtip version. I think it is some buffalo type leather.

Most likely some kind of Bison/ Buffalo.

Peals are a great deal when they're on annual clearance. I think I paid something like $150 (with additional BB discount code) for the bucks that Orgetorix is sporting above.

Yep, that's about what I paid. They'd been clearanced down to around $200 and I got last weekend's 25% Friends & Family discount on top. They'd disappeared from the website, but my guy at BB tracked down one of the last pairs left in my size.

And I agree - when they're on clearance, Peals are about the best deal to be had for new shoes. They're made (IMO) to a far higher standard than AEs or Aldens, but can be had for half of what those cost, if you're patient.

Wheterh C&J made or Alfred Sargent they are a higher spec - no doubt about it.

I like the white suede. Clean look to be sure. I couldn't handle that kind of responsibility, though. Within an hour, I'd spill a cup of coffee on them, or one of my kids would step on them.
