I used dry pin curl sets, on the left and right sides I curled them towards my face. I love big hair so much, I always tease my hair a little when I attempt vintage styles, I can't help it but I've gotten better at containing myself.

Got my bob re-cut so it collapses on itself but the bottom line is still blunt. This way I can still look polished on wash-airdry-go days and get as much volume in it on days I feel like that and it shouldn't be too affected by knit hats. I wear a knit hat 6 months of the year so I've decided to forego bangs.

The cut instantly looks more polished 60s if I pull one or both sides behind my ears.

Ok good hairday so I thought I would post.

This was my first time I feel my victory rolls have worked. Usually I feel like they just get super big and puffy and out of control. Today I used hot sticks (was too tired to put in pin curls last night) and used a little pomade ratted out the parts that got rolled and it worked it finally worked. Ok well the left side still feels puffy and big but way better than I have done in the past. Oh and please excuse roots need to go in and see my stylist this week or next.

lol I think you're right! It always has more "body" when caked with days of hairspray and oil! And yes, I do raise Shetland sheep (as in Shetland sweaters). I hand spin the wool, hence the reason I follow the vintage knit and crochet thread. Always looking for a new project to use up the inventory. Those sheep just keep making more!

Hi all Not sure if I've introduced myself before (I've asked for some help with pin curls before so I must have!) but just to be the on the safe side, hello! I'm Megan and I've been lurking for a few years now

Just a question really but what do you all think of the proper braided in extensions? Has anyone had them and do they 'work' reasonably well for vintage styles? I've had short(ish) hair since I was 12 (I'm now very almost 18!) and it's been gradually getting shorter and shorter over the years, finally culminating in a pixie cut this year. However, I'm now absolutely sick of having short hair and not being able to style it the way I want and the prospect of waiting for it to grow to the length I want is quite daunting, despite the fact that my hair grows quite quickly so I am considering some extensions once my hair gets to a suitable length.

Any opinions or help would be much appreciated!

Since I'd skipped my last haircut, and my hair was starting to annoy me, I went over to the local beauty school with my own products in tow.
I brought my Alaffia shea and coconut shampoo and
hair lotion to use as a leave in. I had her wash with the Alaffia and put in some lotion before she cut. She loved the orangey smell, and my hair was easy to comb out, maybe a little slippery for her to cut.

with 6 inch layers. The front bang area when stretched comes to my mouth, and all of the other areas measure the same.
When I described it, the instructor called it "uniform".
I had her chip the ends a tiny bit throughout,
and when she was done I had her spray it with water and add my Dep Sport texture gel. I scrunched it a little upside down with my microfiber towel, finger styled it myself, then sat under the dryer a few minutes before the school closed.
For all of $6, plus tip, I think this cut came out as good or better than an I've had at pricey salons.This just proves to me that I can get good results for a low price If I just know what I want, be specific, and bring my own products.
