Confederate Slouch Hat worn by PVT. MALACHI CREEKMORE. DOB unknown. Enlisted June 1st 1861 at Portsmouth, VA. Served in the 15th Virginia Cavalry, Company F. Captured at Mechanicsville on May 12, 1864. Died of pneumonia as a POW Sept 22, 1864.

In a private collection.

CSA Major, lawyer who later quit practicing law, & poet who published many poems including "The Good Old Rebel" in 1867, which was quickly put to music.

Would love his hat with the brim down.
