I'm thinking about dying this russet jacket seal brown. Like a painted-on and sealed effect, similar to my Rainbow Country M-422A... so the russet will eventually show through a bit in the high-wear areas.

Anyone done this? Or can link me to a post or two, or even a pic of a successful job?

The jacket in question...

The seal depot redyes didn't produce much of a "tea core" effect; they are still that dark now, 80 years later.

I'd suggest moving it on if it doesn't work for you. But if you just want to do a depot redye, that could be cool. I'm not certain it was done on the goatskin jackets; it definitely was on horsehide. I'd imagine someone on VLJ has a post about how to do it.
