Too bad he didn’t wear one of his leather jackets in this shoot:
Very interesting — thank you for sharing your first-hand experience, it’s really helpful.I tried on the SP611 jacket. Size XL is not far off from my 618 size 44. The length is good and short. However, the hem is too wide for how short it is. It needs to be a little more tapered in my opinion to be this length. The size charts reflect this but I still wanted to see if it would work.
Even without the underarm footballs the pattern has pretty good range of motion. More so than the 613s pattern in my opinion. This may be due in part to the leather and liner.
The liner is thin polyester type fabric, with no insulation or quilting. Makes the jacket go on easy and I guess leaves more room for layering or moving around.
The leather looks promising , has nice grain, but feels very lightweight. I would much prefer their standard steerhide or horsehide or naked cowhide. If you are looking for a comfortable lightweight leather maybe you would like it.
Overall I’m not crazy about the fit or the leather and the price is too high. (I have all the same complaints about the 568 “vandals” jacket, which I also wanted to like) Trying this on makes me really appreciate my 618 and 118. The patterns on the 118 and 618 work really well for me and Schott’s standard steerhide and naked cowhide are hard to beat.
