I get it. I see what they do, how they do it, weigh in the cost of supplies and hours of labor.I get that in some cases, you are getting a shoe rebuilt better than the way it left the factory.

I'm just not so sure that I would pay for that. Especially when I can very good shoes for less than the cost of a recraft.

I guess it's like the cost of restoring an old car. You can go into the tens of thousands of dollars between structural, mechanical, interior, exterior, etc. It's certainly a luxury experience. You must have disposable income. You simply can't argue that you can buy a new car for less than the cost of restoring an old car. Or can you?

None of my income is disposable.

Who knew that resoling a pair of shoes was a luxury item.

Maybe if I buy a few pairs of shoes now, keep them in the box, I'll come out ahead in 10 years when it cost $1,000 to resole shoes.

Having seen the vido above reminded me of a cobbler in my area . His methods are very similar. I had some shoes repaired by this guy (in Salzburg/Austria), he knows what he's doing: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2Fd9uSoAWKrlQyobXhKi9Q and you can see how he does it.

He also sells DIY-shoe sets: https://shop.schubua.at/Schuhe . I got one for x-mas (thank you L.!) and sewed them together myself - it worked out quite well. I am waiting for the winter to pass so that I can finally wear them.

Here is is homepage: https://schubua.at/
