Question about Watches & Jewelry

excuse my ignorance but I am curious about watches, jewelry and cufflinks of the 20's, 30's 40's and 50's. Currently most of my accessories and links are silver or white gold, it is my personal preference. But what were the standards during the above eras?
My father in law (now deceased) was a jeweler in back in the 40's, 50's and 60's. Most of the links and such I inherited from him seem to be silver and platinum but there were several that were gold. Most of the jewelry, rings and watches were gold. It is difficult to determine from movies and photos of that era as most are in black and white? Any information is greatly appreciated.

By the way it is great to have a forum to ask such a question!

I am no expert on this, but I have a cameo c. 1919 that is in rose gold. My mother's wedding rings, c. 1950, are in white gold. These may have been popular watch metals during these times.

I think gold has always been in style.

concur.

A quick call to my Dad says that White gold was quite popular in the 40s-50s, rose gold as well, platinum, not so much.
