I always assumed this RV was sold as this model, but I’m now realizing the ribbon is different. Also my brim measures 1/8” short of 4

A couple yrs difference, one way or the other from 1928 could account for the color offering. Do I see a wide ribbon ghost line? Could it have been changed when illustrated by Yong?

Good eye Jack, though the ghost line I assume from the hitched hair band it was sold with. I had removed it to find the 1936 date on the front beneath the RV etching. I assume the 3 ply band is original, but it also has the white size tag that could have signified renovation work so who knows. Here’s the original listing link

I would agree then that the ghost line is from the horsehair & the 3-cord is original with the hat. Between you, Vic, & BB having the RV’s cornered I can’t even sniff one out for myself!

Me too. And size matters also.

PS: I wish some catalogs & other ephemera from the mid-1960’s would turn up. Looking for info from around the time of the Stetson 100th anniversary.

$25 in 1928 was big time loot!

Looks like RV 1936...maybe someone presented it for a special occasion?
It's even possible with the Depression this hat sat on the shelf for 8 years waiting for someone to buy it.

At 32 cents an hour one had to work about weeks... Certainly not the average mans hat.
