I want to sincerely thank Stefan the Flemish for his kindness.
He's a true gentleman who, like me, is plagued by too many hats, and trying to find a reason to exchange is increasingly difficult. We succeeded, and soon you'll see the prized pieces arriving from the Netherlands, as soon as the heat gives us a break.
To better explain the concept expressed for the Morreton Diplomatique Chamois, only two of these hats were purchased knowing their size. The reason: they are "mid-season" hats designed and made with the precision of Barbisio.
I bought the others blind. Sellers can't find the size, and if given, it's often incorrect.
I hoped they'd be wearable, but that wasn't the case.
For the Panizza, the focus was on color and vents. Nagy for its two-tone band and the scarcity of hats from that Vienna maker. Borsalino because it's old (really) and has a very unusual shape for that maker.
Stefan enjoys them, and I'm more than happy.

I saw that one but they quoted shipping that was about double what it should have been and I had other things I was trying to buy. I'd also never heard much about the manufacturer aside from seeing it had this thread here.

Is it nice felt? How's the sweatband? It looked to be in great shape in the auction pics, glad to hear/see it showed up and was. And nice luck on getting it for the opening bid. =)

Caxtons are fantastic hats, almost always dress felts. As HJ pointed out above I don't think we've had a western Caxton on the FL before. There is a Caxton Cafe thread and I already have a couple from them (fantastic felts!), but between the rarity of the hat itself and having the box it came with, I figured the shipping would be worth it for my low bid. Since it never moved, I feel pretty good about the score.

I’m glad you won that. So different in blocking from what you normally buy, but I think you understand its rarity. And glad the box stays with it.

Back again with a new hat.
Akubra The Boss 1096 Black.

It was supposed to be a 6 7/8- 7 or 22 inch circum. I was hoping it was a 56

It has no tag but box says 1030 Blle 57. Not sure if it's the original box but it's an old Outback trading box.
Akubra 1030 would be a Boomerang so maybe the box originally was for a different hat.

The hat is so nice but it's big. How can I shrink it?
These hats tend to shrink but this one looks like it's been very well kept in it's box.

I so want to make it work.

Hat opening is about 6.75 inch across & 8 inch long...Seems pretty big & taking circumference is not always easy.
Still these hats tended to shrink a size or maybe more so I need to make that happen.

Looking at other marked 56 with measurments of a hat sizer between 6 7/8 & 7 the width should be more in the 6 1/2 in & 8 inch length.

This seems like it might be at least a 57 or 58?
