I love finding hats from this time period that defy the usual narrow brim, low crown hats that dreadfully became the new normal.
My first green hat. Randy @Rmccamey says its color is called peacock green by Stetson. I say it’s money green.
It’s also my first Imperial Stetson that happens to be a Fifteen. I’ve got one other Stetson Fifteen, but it’s essentially an Open Road.
This one originally sold in a defunct store of San Angelo, Texas. Now lives in South Georgia for as long as I live. I like this’n.
Gave the size 7 a two size stretch without using a hat block. However, it actually arrived with sweatband measurements of a 7 1/8. The reedless thing magically stretched easily and didn’t cause the tell tell unattractive taper in the crown.
Long ago stopped stretching hats that the sweats wouldn’t take it or cause irreparable crown taper.
Its Imperial felt is so thin and floppy yet somehow holds a steamed shape very well! Enchanted I tell ya.
Wide brimmed and tall crowned, though only weighs 3.3 ounces!

A new addition to the lawn maintenance stable. The stiff leather sweat was a bit snug out of the box. But wearing for a bit it softened up enough to shape to my head.

Interesting hat all around! Kimball is unusual, nice liner logo. Great color.

It has been too long since I posted a new hat here. Picked this very odd boater off Ebay a month or so ago. It will be a real project. Italian made, based on the only marking on the hat. Weird taper to the crown and a narrower brim width. The previous owner tried to bend it into a "snap" brim, another oddity. His dirty fingers left their mark for sure in this effort. Have not spent any time cleaning, steaming, and reshaping this weird one. I do have a tendency to take in strays off of Ebay, just can't say no sometimes.

Nice find. The sweatband looks unusual as it seems to consist of two layers.

Posted some head-shots of this one last week, but here it is in more detail.
Peschel velour in H. Rex quality (whatever that is). Size 56 with the bound brim at 6,5cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. It's a shorter haired velour with a great hand to the felt. The colour reminds me of Borsalino's Lupo colour, but it's a bit lighter and more grey.

Someone called "dibs" on this one before it hit the ground and it's already on its way again to Copenhagen.
Moores Bowler (riding hat actually) in light brown. Size 7 1/8 (English). Brim at 5cm and crown at about 12cm (a bit lower than usual for bowlers, but fitting for riding hats). As a riding hat it's a bit heavier than a bowler as well: 212 grams.

Yes but the good news is that it looks much worse than it is. It’s intact but with the unsightly surface tears. Leather is relatively supple so it must have undone an attempted stretch at some point.

Hi folks.

My Akubra Fed iv arrived yesterday! Four weeks for delivery to UK, which isn't bad considering it came by boat due to flight cancellations.

Man the felt is stiff! Gave it some steam and it turned to putty, though, making it extremely easy to bash, even for a novice like me.

I expected the brim to be flatter after reading comments on here but was pleasantly surprised by how much flange there is.

No detailed pics as I'm sure you all know what a Fed IV looks like and the selfie camera on my phone doesn't work, so none of me in it, but here's the bash I fashioned. Centre dent or narrow teardrop I guess you'd call it...
