Hi All,

I need to clean my antique ovens. What is the best product to use so that I don't wipe off the lettering on the doors? Will EZ Off oven cleaner work or should I just use soap and water and then scrub?

Thanks,

Mike

If it's porcelain enamel, the insignia should be fused into the finish, not applied by a decal or paint. A simple degreaser that's safe for porcelain should be fine. In the Era, housewives used an ordinary heavy-duty bar soap like Octagon or Sapolio, and maybe a gritty mineral-based cleanser like Old Dutch or Bab-O to take off difficult stains.
