Just bought myself a pair of Dromarti/Maresi Italian made leather cycling shoes.

Great choice! I have those. Very, very comfortable for long writes if you get the lace tension right all the way down the shoe. If you don't, hotfoot pain. Ladder lacing works with me, with a double slip knot at the top to keep those laces out of the chain

Thanks for the photo Bruce. I am trying to figure out if the Alameda Avenue bridge still exists. It looks like it was a very popular riding spot early in the 20th century.

After I found the source for that picture, I searched for any other cycling pictures in the archive and was amazed by what I found. I was particularly impressed the shot of a family out riding, the lady armed for bear.

Well, at least for pigeons judging by the basket the man is wearing! One nice thing I notice about the photos is, the trail seemed to be fully integrated, which was great in that time period of so much Segregation!

The handlebars are worst, especially where the grips were. Rest of some paper kept the moisture there.
